Traditionally, the bride and her family paid for all the reception expenses, which may include food and beverage as well as renting the rooms that the reception will take place. As well, the brides family also pays for any decorative accessories and music and flora arrangements for the wedding ceremony and the reception with the possible exception of flowers for the bride, which the groom shall purchase.
Cookbooks - This is a great gift for the bride. This gift could be either a basic cookbook or (if the bride loves a certain kind of food), maybe give a book about Italian, Spanish or Chinese cooking for example. Along the same lines, how about including a bottle of good vinegar or some spices used in some of the recipes!
Another idea for bridal gifts is to give purses or handbags. Many brides are opting to have their girls carry handbags down the aisle instead of bouquets of flowers. This gives the ceremony a more modern look and it saves money. It also avoids having bunches of flowers that do not last past the big day. Handbags can coordinate with the bridesmaids gowns and it gives the girls an easy way to carry tissues, lipstick and other items they may want to have with them during the wedding. If you are more traditional and you want to stick with flowers, consider giving handbags as the gift that the girls can use at the reception for their belongings or even use after the wedding.
